I Want My Crumpet
Well, it really is a very nice summer we have been enjoying so far, hasn't it? Sure, it's not exactly bikini-on-the-streets weather, but it's mainly been mild and dry and those light summer evenings really bring a smile to my face. Anyway, as part of root's Summer 2008 extravaganza, I have recently become very fond of Warburton's Crumpets. Step forward several days to yesterday evening. I'm doing my shopping, listening away to ASDA FM (tune of the moment last night was What A Fool Believes by The Doobie Brothers), and I get to the bakery isle all ready to get my tasty bit of crumpet. What do I find?
Now, about 10 days ago I went to my Isle Of Dog's ASDA store and they had many different varieties of crumpet. However, it was the Warburton ones which tickled my fancy as they are just great toasted with a slice of cheese on top. Anyway, ASDA had *lots* of them in stock and I have to admit to being quite surprised as to the popularity of British crumpet. I was really glad to see others enjoying them as much as me.

Very disappointing I am sure you can imagine. I was most upset.
I will update this posting when the crumpets are back in stock. In the meantime, if anyone from ASDA reads this, please bring back the crumpets!

DSO Transmitter Work is well under way
One of my favourite websites is the MB21 Transmission Gallery. Updated regularly, it shows UK Terrestrial broadcast transmitter sites from around the country. Since the UK is preparing for DSO beginning in November this year (in the Border Television area), all of the transmitters will need updating. The latest updates on the gallery are as follows: Also, some very interesting work coming up at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter which serves Birmingham and The West Midlands. Mendip DSO Work
Digital switchover is scheduled for the West Midlands in September 2011. In preparation for this, major engineering works will take place at Sutton Coldfield. The mast will be extended from its existing height of 245.0 metres (804 ft) to a new height of 270.5 metres (887 ft) and the existing analogue and digital television antennas will be replaced. In order to accomplish this, a temporary 240.2 metres (788 ft) mast will be erected to broadcast all the area's services so that the main mast is worked on 'cold'.
Pret A Manger Fridge Not Working
Alert to all those who might be visiting the Pret A Manger sandwich restaurant on Cannon Street (junction of Cannon Street and Garlick Hill) this lunchtime - one of the sandwich fridges are out of order! This will most likely result in a reduced selection of food on display. However, you can always ask one of their chefs to make a fresh sandwich for you if your favourite choice is not available!
Subway Sequence Incident
I was half asleep in Subway this lunchtime.....I ordered my BMT toasted roll as usual and was patiently waiting in line… The woman in front of me was being particularly greedy and ordered a whopping 4 Sub’s (maybe they were not all for her) so when she’d finished adding her garnishing they asked me what I wanted. I selected a few veggies and some mayo. They wrapped it up. But then, I realised it was NOT my sandwich! My Sub had gotten out of sequence!! I had asked for a whole load of veggies and they had gone and put them on someone else’s chicken and cheese sub! Oh dear. Everyone was not best pleased and things very nearly got out of hand. The best part was, my Sub was next in the line and waiting for garnish. I said “Oh well, mine’s OK, I’ll just have the veggies and mayo!”. That didn’t go down too well with the dude who’s sandwich I had ruined. Aces! Let this be a warning to you all..

Well, root just watched the Brit Awards and was suitably impressed with the live performances, but left yawing and cringing at the thank-you speeches.
